Paris Update

NAG London have announced some changes to a visit to Paris and Bois du Vincennes. It will now take place between Friday 7th September and Monday 10th September 2018.

It is suggested that you book your own passage with a cost in the region of £200 and a visit to the naturist restuarent O Natural on the Saturday is also planned.

More details are included in the attached notice. This is a chance to not only take in the sights of Paris and giving support to our French cousins as they establish a new venue for open space naturism.

Naturism and the Police

The College of Policing have just published a briefing note to help frontline police officers with incidents involving public nudity and naturism.

The Public Nudity Advice and Decision-making Aid from the College of Policing has come some years after the CPS published its own guidance: Nudity in Public, guidance on handling cases of naturism, even so NAG’s Treasurer Duncan Heenan said: ‘It is a welcome addition and should greatly help with educating frontline police officers.’

In the briefing note, officers are told that naturism is ‘a philosophical belief’ and ‘naturists have a right to freedom of expression, which only engages [the] criminal law if they commit sexual offences or use disorderly behaviour’ and they ‘should consider every situation according to its own circumstances’.

Housekeeping: GDPR, the end.

This message signifies the end of the housekeeping exercise for the introduction of GDPR. Everyone who is getting this message should have indicated that they would like to remain in contact with NAG. If that is not correct, and you prefer NOT to receive notifications from us please email me at: reg.barlow AT naturistactiongroup DOT org.

It may seem odd to send a message to those no longer part of our notification system, but we shall miss you and will welcome you back with open arms. All you need to do is register!

If you are one of the very small number who wanted to stay in touch, but no longer getting notifications; apologise. I could not find your record with the information provided. If you still want to keep in touch then please re-register.

Housekeeping: Important

This is the first (and last) reminder that on 25thMay 2018, new regulations (General Data Protection Regulations or GDPR) related to your personal information will come into force in the United Kingdom. This affects any organisation that collects contact details, such as email addresses, for the purposes of communication and we have updated our Data Protection Policy accordingly. As a consequence, we need to make sure that our database of registered users is accurate, including only those who wish to continue to hear from us whenever a new post is published and be able to add comments.

While many of our users are residents of other countries, we ask that you still confirm your desire to receive notifications to help us with subsequent actions.

We have created a very brief Google Survey Form (completed in less than 5 minutes) for users to confirm their instructions. If you have not already done so, it is important that you complete the form before the deadline of midnight, 24thMay.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Reg Barlow,
Chairman, 19thMay 2018.

Production Call

Posted on behalf of Elle Mower, Assistant Producer at Burning Bright Productions.

We have been contacted by Burning Bright Productions looking for women to take part in a new Channel 4 arts documentary all about womanhood. They are working with photographer/storyteller Laura Dodsworth in a new project and are looking for people to speak about what being a woman means to them, told through their life experiences and their bodies.

In our telephone conversation, they are currently looking to filming in June, but that is not confirmed, and knowing we have an international readership, I asked if they’d consider people from, say; France and Belgium (and perhaps Holland and Ireland) because they can all get to London (where filming will take place) easily. Elle said that they would but should not plan a special journey for it.

If you think you have an interesting story or view point you would like to be included then please email your interest to womanhood@BBprod.co.uk and a member of the team will be in touch to talk through what it involves.

Paris Visit

Posted on behalf of John Paine.

NAG is making a fact-finding mission to Paris, to experience the officially sanctioned naturist area of the Bois de Vincennes, and other naturist activities in Paris. You may be aware that in 2017 Paris naturists got agreement from the city authorities for a naturist area in the Bois de Vincennes. The last day of the season saw  700 naturists there; see the video. We invite you to join us on a ‘fact-finding mission’ to enjoy naturist Paris and learn how the work by Paris naturists may help NAG get outdoor London naturist sites.

Our 4-day visit to Paris begins on Saturday 25 August, our Bank Holiday week-end. It includes travel from London on Eurostar, 3 nights hotel booking, returning from Paris during Tuesday. Preliminary indications are that Eurostar and hotel costs could be about £300. The NAG group will be a minimum of 10 people, female, male, couples. Single occupancy and twin rooms (for sharing) could be booked. Add to this your food, travel, and other personal expenditure whilst in Paris.

We will shortly get costings based on numbers of participants. Interested naturists will be given a full and costed itinerary, before making a definite booking. Our current itinerary outline is:

Saturday 25 August
10.30am   Meet at St. Pancras International Station London for Eurostar train to Paris
Evening meal at O’Naturel naturist restaurant (if we can get bookings)
Paris by night sight-seeing

Sunday 26
Visit Bois de Vincennes naturist area
Evening meal with colleagues in APNEL, Naturistes de Paris, and FFN

Monday 27
Visit Bois de Vincennes naturist area
9.00pm    Naturist Swim + at Piscine Roger le Galle

Tuesday 28
10.00am   check out from hotel, visit Bois de Vincennes naturist area
8.13pm     Eurostar from Gard Du Nord to London

Alternatively, you might like to make other arrangements to be in Paris at that time – perhaps with family members — and spend some time with us in Bois de Vincennes during your stay?

NAG is liaising with our naturist colleagues in APNEL, Naturistes de Paris, and FFN. For several years NAG has been campaigning in London for official recognition of open space naturism. You probably know that NAG made a similar trip to Munich, to find out from our German colleagues how that city has several officially sanctioned open spaces for naturism. Details of that trip are on our website www.naturistactiongroup.org.

If you would like to consider joining this NAG travel group to Paris please contact me now, by email at: john.paine AT talktalk DOT net or ring me on 01865 513103.

The Digital Economy and Naturism

For someone of my generation or older, the digital economy is a mystery with countless purchases being made online, around the world, every hour let alone day. Yet, it is the times we live in and all of us must learn to adapt.

The advancement of technology is so fast, Governments are always playing ‘catch up’ when it comes to legislation designed to place limits or safeguards on the digital economy, so it should be no surprise that the UK Government has already replaced the Act it introduced in 2010 with The Digital Economy Act 2017. This latest version introduces methods to ensure that minors (those under 18) cannot access pornographic material, among other things.

From the outset, naturism has been greatly affected by online pornography, with naturists reluctant to share images, either still or moving, of themselves and others enjoying the simple delights of non-sexual social nudity, fearful that they would end up on a porn website for the purpose of sexual arousal. The truth is, so many images are uploaded to the internet, the chances that a pornographer will find your picture or video are slim, but we cannot deny, it does happen. Yet, research carried out by NAG has found that pornography has abused the naturist lifestyle from much earlier on in history. We discovered a porn film from the 1930s titled Nudist Barsupposedly set in France. It’s short, less than six minutes, but it gives the consumer from whatever age the impression that because naturists are nude together, we are

Naturist Interaction Survey

A final year student at Bournemouth University is writing his (her) dissertation for their undergraduate honours degree course in Events and Leisure Marketing.

The dissertation is looking at participation and interaction at naturist events. It will take between 5 and 10 minutes to complete and is fully compliant with the university’s procedures for research involving human subjects.

Like all such surveys, participation in the Naturist Interaction survey is voluntary and by doing so, you are confirming you are at least 18. Other than passing on the link, NAG has no involvement with this piece of academic work.

An Interest Confirmed – results

A little while ago, we invited all our registered users to participate in a short survey, asking what made you interested in naturism in the first place. As promised, here are the findings. We cannot claim that this survey was anyway scientific, and while the results are perhaps not unexpected, I hope you will find them interesting just the same.

Once duplications and failed attempts to participate were eliminated, we had 107 replies, which is 27.6 percent of all registered users. However, it should be noted that we did not get 107 answers for both questions. This is because of the way the survey was
