Naturists Campaigning for Naturism

Housekeeping

Dear Supporter,
We’ve just had a busy weekend, dealing with spammers hiding behind our name and our first ‘alleged’ troll. As a result, we have made some changes to the website’s settings, improving its user-friendliness at the same time.

I have decided to remove the ability of our ‘alleged’ troll to post and comment, and for the time being at least, posts will not appear until they have been seen by an administrator. This action was taken reluctantly as the one thing we are conscious of is the potential of being accused of censoring comments that go counter to our views. I, personally, have no problem with people saying I’m wrong, as long as they can explain why. I find abusive drivel annoying at best. The purpose of the posts we publish is to generate debate that elucidates further the point under discussion, whether here or among friends in the real world; some of the comments posted over the weekend did not do that. I hope, in time, that we can dispense with moderation but it could return again if a troll appears or re-appears among us.

You are now able to elect (If I’ve understood our technical guru correctly) to follow a post that interests you – or not – as the case may be. This means we can dispense with the frequent email alerts, except when a primary posting is published (Please expect a correction if I’ve got this wrong.) which, from the feedback we’ve received, some of you found annoying, to say the least. Well, if I found them so, I can only imagine you did too.

With regards to the spammers, we have now weeded out the users that we believe gave access to our systems and hopefully that will be the end of that. The administrators do their best to accept only genuine users but mistakes and accidents will happen. Even after the actions described above, we still have over 200 supporters and growing. It would be helpful to us, therefore, if you could complete your profile, including a picture if possible.

I hope you will accept these actions as an attempt to improve the environment for everyone and that, with luck, we can return to normal service very soon.
Yours sincerely,
Reg Barlow
Chairman.

  • Hi Reg,
Just checked my profile and can’t see any way of adding a picture as you suggest.

  • Great news Reg.

I know you have to be correct in these matters, but in my opinion there was no “alleged” about it, it looked, smelled and sounded like a troll, and the conclusion can only be made that it WAS a troll! If we have to suffer a slight amount of censorship, then it’s a small price to pay for keeping them off the message board. I guessed the latest bunch of troll postings was deleted, but I did get them by email, and they were not very nice.

One last thing: I have looked to post a profile pic as your message suggests, but can’t see any way to do that. Have you got any clues?

    Thanks for the hard work.
    Darren

  • That’s the right thing to do Reg. I’m sure he was a troll. He certainly didn’t like darrensw. he is no use to this group and is a bad advert for naturism. I too cannot find a way to put a photo on my profile, can you please advise.

  • I did it! Suitable pic applied I hope!

  • Totally agree with your actions, Reg, NAG generates some really interesting and respectful debate which helps us all to elucidate our views to ourselves and each other and also to understand how we can best encourage a wider acceptance and enjoyment of nakedness. There can never be a place for personal abuse. I am now going to try to add a pic, have always wondered how others did it …
